“This was my first time trying The Pig Rig and the locals were right, this place is the best. The half rack of ribs combo was incredible. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender. The cowboy beans were superb with tons of smoky flavor and full of pulled pork. The cornbread was classically made and good. The cold-hard butter was a bummer. But the pig mac sandwich was really good. The bread was super soft, the macaroni was very tasty as was the pulled pork. Multiple sauces to choose from but the spicy bbq was my go to and it didn't disappoint. Will be trying new items the next time I'm close by.”
— Scandellis“My husband and I stopped here based on the great reviews. The pictures are accurate—the food is delicious! We shared a full rack of ribs with mac and cheese and beans. There was plenty of food for two. The ribs were great, but the cowboy beans are PHENOMENAL. So flavorful! The coleslaw was also a good, fresh side. Fair warning: the cornbread wasn't good, just as other reviews said. But everything else was so tasty we didn't care. Highly recommend! Be warned they do not sell alcohol at this restaurant but they allow you to BYOB.”
— Always2nice23“This location had a great vibe, there was a lot of classic rock memorabilia around the dining room. The staff was friendly and helpful and the location was clean. We tried three dishes, the burnt ends with diesel beans, the pulled pork sandwich with cowboy beans, the big bird with a side of potato salad. I also got an order of the pulled pork by itself. Well, none of it was bad, I will say the pulled pork and the burnt ends were a bit dry on their own. Understand, I am being picky about these meats. I think burnt ends are incredibly hard to pull off; many places leave them fatty, thankfully they do not do that here. I also understand most people will add in a lot of sauce (the original house is a solid barbecue sauce) to these meats. I like them to stand on their own, on the merrily of the smoke and the rub, or the sauce that they were basted in. All three cornbreads that of came with our meal were a miss, dried and hard. I didn’t mind, because I was here for the meats. The sides were delicious, both style beans were well seasoned, thick, and exactly what you would expect to accompany smoked meat meats. I would try it again but if I’m being honest, there are other barbecue spots in Connecticut that hit closer to my preferred barbecue. Definitely try them out, I think some of these dishes may work better as a bowl than a sandwich.”
— Allan Seals“Burnt ends and ribs were tender and tasted good with slight smokey flavor, but it was way too sweet. Same for the beans. (I have a sweet tooth and too sweet even for me). Corn bread was a bit dry. It wasn’t bad but we couldn’t finish because overall it was too sweet. Soda fountain is out of order. Quiet and clean, retro vibe”
